It was a buoyant stock-market this week - finishing up 4%, with the US also up 2%. The week started moderately, ignoring the slightly negative lead-ins from the US. Leading into our Wednesday, stronger than expected US manufacturing data was a driver behind the ~2% market increase in the US, with positive moves on European markets as well. The positive outlook continued to benefit the market on Thursday, on the back of reasonably positive US employment data. On Friday, the market was again moderately higher with banking and mining & energy stocks again positive.
