Wry & Dry

Shorten also caves in

W&D is nothing if not even handed.   Trade Minister Andrew Robb tirelessly and successfully negotiated three amazing free-trade agreements, with each of Japan, South Korea and China.  To the applause of everybody.  Well, almost everybody.

Opposition Leader Shorten has caved in to the demands of the CFMEU and Energy Union and will oppose the deal with China.

It looks like the only trade in which Shorten is interested is votes within the Labor Party.  W&D finds it odd that the three Labor premiers as well as Labor and working-class hero Bob Hawke have all come out strongly in favour of the deal.  And yet Shorten hasn't the courage to stand up to the sectional interests within his own party.

Seems like ticker is in short supply in leadership in Canberra.
