Facts
- First Samuel Limited was registered as a company on 11th February 1999.
- The Company was named after the Founder's favourite biblical verse, which is to be found in the First Book of Samuel, in the Old Testament. That verse is "The Lord says those who honour me I shall also honour." 1 Sam 2:30.
- First Samuel's first premises was a one roomed, windowless office in a serviced office complex in Camberwell, a suburb of Melbourne. Anthony Starkins, the Founder, was its first Associate (i.e. employee)
- The Company moved to Collins Street, Melbourne, in July 1999. Its second Associate was Claire Nimmo, its business manager.
- The licence to operate was given by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on August 13th, 1999.
- The first client was obtained in November 1999.
- Of the 21 clients obtained in the first year of operation, 19 are still clients.
- First Samuel was, in 2000, the first company to appear before a Senate Select Committee to request the abolition of all commissions associated with the provision of financial advice.
- First Samuel's service offering is unchanged from its inception, that is:
"the provision of individual, indispensible and enduring relationships that create, manage and protect wealth."
